There is something about a Colorado winter wedding with falling snow that is just magical. Lionscrest Manor is such a beautiful venue surrounded with plenty of mountain views. Add in the biggest snow flakes you have ever seen and you have the perfect mix for a winter wedding.

When planning your wedding in Colorado you never know what kind of weather will show up. Lauren and Tristan were thrilled with the snow covering the ground and continuing to fall during their wedding day. The did originally want to have their ceremony outside, but didn’t want their guests to get cold and wet. They opted to go outside for some photos of just the two of them.

When planning a wedding in Colorado be sure to prepare for a backup plan in case of bad weather. Lionscrest can quickly turn around their ballroom into a ceremony room very quickly should bad weather arrive on your wedding day. Most of the time it seems that most storms in Colorado are brief which is great if you are waiting on a storm to pass on your wedding.

I have failed as a blogger this past year. With so many avenues to share photos with our clients including  galleries, personal photo app, Facebook, instagram, etc. I have failed to blog our client photos. Hopefully that will change. I am making a new years resolution in November to use all the social media avenues for every client. I am spending the day to pre-post lot’s of blog posts.

I probably should blog Heather and Mark’s wedding first, but I love these photos from their day after session and already have the photos ready for the blog. So the day after session it is. Heather and Mark had their downtown Denver wedding this past fall. It was extremely windy on their wedding day, so for the most part we spent the wedding day inside. With that we did a day after session with them. All the fall colors were gone by the time we did their session, but that didn’t matter at all for me. The came prepared to rock the session. Heather and Mark are incredibly sweet people and one of our favorite clients.

I have so many weddings to blog and share, but it seems like I am never in the office this time of year. Besides photographing weddings this is the busiest time for photographing high school seniors. Our senior brand Roka Studios is being blessed with all the clients coming to us for their senior portraits. It is a great problem to have, but seems I have fallen way behind on blogging. Speaking of seniors, I was also able to work with the talent Makeup By Janine for this wedding. Janine did the makeup for all my senior model reps last year. She is an incredible talented makeup artist. Always love working with her.

I have so many weddings that I am currently working on and trying to get on the blog as soon as I can. First up is Sarah and Jon who got married in Estes Park at the beautiful Della Terra Mountain Chateau. We love photographing up in the Colorado mountains, it is such a beautiful backdrop to have your wedding. Sarah and Jon had two special dances during their reception. They had their 1st dance after they were announced. After dinner, Sarah went and changed and they rocked a second choreographed dance, that their guests went nuts over.

Venue: Della Terra

Florist: Ivy Lane

Cake: Das Meyer

DJ: DJ Guys

Andrea & Don are getting married this August at The Pradera and Kammi and I are so excited for their wedding. We photographed Andrea’s brothers wedding years ago down in Durango, Colorado. Andrea’s brother  Matt is married to Allison, whom have become great friends of ours over the years. Looking forward to seeing them at the wedding.  Allison and Matt have a very successful photography business down in Durango called Allison Ragsdale Photography. Check out their site.

Our first scheduled session for Andrea & Don had to be rescheduled due to weather. Andre’s did a test run on her wedding day makeup for her session, which I think is a great idea. We decided to have the session downtown. I checked Denver’s summer events for the first session and there was nothing. Once we rescheduled I didn’t check the summer time events happening in Denver. Needless to say there was a huge event going on where we were going to photograph so we quickly changed locations. I had a blast getting to know Don & Andrea as we roamed around Denver. Such a sweet couple together and we are looking forward to their August wedding.

I love living in Colorado. It’s pretty much the perfect state to live in. The only thing we are missing is a beach. Since I lived in Florida for a while, I certainly miss that aspect. Denver Colorado has all four seasons, plenty of sunshine, and it’s close to the mountains. Jen & David recently got married on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Beaver Creek. They had their ceremony and reception at the Beaver Creek Hyatt. From Denver, Beaver Creek is a short two hour drive into the mountains. Jen & David opted to see each other before the ceremony for their portraits. We set up a first sight on the Hyatt’s grand staircase for them to see each other and have a moment alone. After that we roamed the hotel and the village streets of Beaver Creek. Such a great getting to know them and photograph their big day.
